The panels produce direct current (DC) which is converted to alternating current (AC) by an inverter so it can be used by appliances in the home.
Net Energy Metering (NEM)
NEM is a scheme developed by SEDA to promote conversion to solar and help improve the return of investment of solar PV systems. It works by offsetting exported energy on a “one-on-one” basis, which means for every 1kWh exported to the grid, it will offset against 1kWh consumed from the grid. It’s like having a battery system – but without the cost!
